The church building guidelines to follow are taken from the book of the authors', "before building." The guidelines of the church building were seen by a variety of sources, including years of experience, what works has been completed, and what is not. Use these guidelines as a starting point for planning, but keep in mind these are general guidelines for a program of construction of the church, and each has exceptions and modifiers to your specific needs.

In general, you canshould be about an acre to a hundred people to appreciate. This allows for your building, parking, parks, recreation and stormwater management. This space would be in a metropolitan area, where reduced in the street or public parking.

Plan for a parking space for every 2.25 people on campus at a time. This is probably less than that required by the car parks of the city or municipality, but they better reflect actual need. First, itbe able to get by with fewer cars, but you need to plan for adequate parking for the overall performance of the plants, even if you decide to become over time.

To be a good idea, the parking requirements for a future building program, go to the parking lot and someone who include car during a period of several weeks, using a good participation in all campuses. Divide the sum of the average attendance (men, women and children) by the average number of cars. The resultis probably somewhere around 2 to 2.5 people per car. Multiply this number by the capacity of the new system, and this will tell you how many parking spaces must be at the end, all the parks for your building to fill the capacity.

Enjoy on-site parking at about 100-110 vehicles per acre. Structured parking (parking decks / garages) is very expensive. While structured parking can dramatically increase parking spaces per hectare, use only as a last resort for highConstruction costs.

Seating in the sanctuary typically range from 10 to 15 square meters per person, depending on the layout, type of seat, seat models, and the total size of the sanctuary. Stage area must be separated from the living area, which can vary widely among the churches to be calculated.

With benches instead of chairs in general, is able to accommodate more people in the same space, perhaps up to 20% more. Chairs can also configure your sanctuary, in order toSupport (use weddings, Sunday morning worship, events, community, community, etc.) the different types of use

The vestibule / lobby / narthex should be about 2 square meters per capita in the center of worship. Normally this will be about 15-20% the sanctuary seats. If you want to run multiple services, you should consider doing more of this "shift change".

Classrooms are of the order of 12 square meters per person (for adults) to 35 square meters per person in double(Preschool children), depending on the age group with the space.

Almost no church has enough room, housekeeping, and work space built.

A high school basketball size is 50x84 meters. Add modest place on the edge of the playing field for the out of bounds, as well as allows you to sanitation, transport storage rooms, multipurpose rooms, etc., that you are probably looking at a minimum of 7.500 to 8.000 square meters of buildings.

Individual offices are usually recommended, at least120 square feet of office and pastor a minimum of 150 square (with a recommended size of 300 square meters). Cabinets in an open field in the work of about 48-105 square meters, although they can be as small as 4'x4 '(16 square meters).

Roundtables at the Community Hall will reduce capacity by 20% or more. Necessary in the calculation of the space, going to 12 square meters per person per square tables and 15 after lap.

Overall, a building with rooms dedicated toSanctuary, community, training room, and multipurpose government may require 35-55 square meters per person, depending on the programs, ministries and other factors.

(Some rooms are used for different purposes) of a building with a multipurpose room may require a minimum of 23 square meters per person.

Are you planning to double the amount of capacity of toilets for women than for men.

Corridors must not be less than 6 feet wide. Seriously consider larger rooms, if you run multipleServices in order to "shift change" to facilitate. This is particularly important for the Sunday school classrooms and surroundings that always seem to be overloaded.

Handicap ramps have a slope not to fall by more than 1 inch per linear foot, unless handrails are provided.

Budget about 10% of construction costs for the new facility.

In general, the space on the first basement of the degree or second-cheapest floor space. If you have space, it is generally better to spreadhorizontally rather than vertically, to minimize costs.

One way to estimate the cost of moving the company is the floor plan of your new facilities and a room by room inventory of what you need to buy for this area. The easiest way to do this is with columns in a table space, item description, quantity, location and total cost (formula amount times the cost of the article). Open a catalog provides church and have low prices for each item and let the spreadsheetoverall results.

None of the above points should be used as suggestions on what needs to be designed to build, but only as points of reference in planning and budgeting should.

With this information, you can now with some general ideas about the church. As they say, a bit 'of knowledge can be dangerous, but it is less dangerous than a lack of knowledge.

It is commonly found in the church in the best interest of an outside consultant, both within theDenomination or church building independent consultant to help define these general concepts in a clear plan for your church building program. External advice is almost always a smart move, as the gap between knowing and not knowing something is much smaller than the gap between knowing something and doing it well.

Mistakes are easy to make. For more information on how to solve critical problems the church building, see "Before You Build: Practical advice and expertNotes for your Church for a building program "to prepare now for free download.
